Welcome To Acceptance
One thing that is seriously lacking in the world today is "acceptance". Why can't we accept people for who THEY are? Often times I find myself under the critical magnifying glass of society, my family and peers, and every time it is another harsh reminder that I am not, and may never be 100% accepted by anyone, like ever.
Sure, everyone is entitled to their feelings, more importantly I've learned a long time ago that what other people think about me is none of my business but I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't saddened at the reality that at times even my own mother doesn't accept me, for me and or doesn’t understand anything about me. Not even after 34 years of life. Do I still love her of course! But again, I'd be lying if I said that it didn't affect me.
Every where you look people are scrambling about, going under the knife, starving their selves, pretending to be something they are not, jumping through numerous hoops and hurdles just to be accepted, loved, appreciated, seen etc. To me it's all in vain. The fact is we will never fit perfectly into any one "box" or picture perfect image of what people THINK we should look like.
We must ask ourselves who is this "person" or group of people to us, that we value their opinion so much? Why do we care? We can even dig deeper and say, what is it about me that constantly provokes this person so criticize me, put me down etc?
The truth is it's not you at all, it's THEM. It's always been them. What people don't like about themselves they will openly project out onto you. It's like the saying goes "confidence is silent, insecurities are loud." and boy are their insecurities loud. Their insecurities are so loud, they awaken our own insecurities.
Live and let live, that's my new motto. One of the most beautiful and underestimated things in this life next to God and LOVE is acceptance. Acceptance is love. Acceptance says you’re perfect just the way you are, flaws and all. Acceptance says "you CAN sit us!"
Acceptance is a priceless gift that keeps on giving.
Welcome to acceptance enjoy the journey!
